Michael Gallup Admits Problem From His Disappointing 2022 Season

Expectations were high for Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup last year, but he struggled mightily to meet them and went on to have one of the more disappointing seasons of his career. Looking back, he now thinks he understands why.

Speaking to the media this week, Gallup admitted that he was "thinking too much" when he came back from the torn ACL he had suffered the year before. He said that his knee was still sore and so he played differently to compensate.

“I was thinking too much. My knee was feeling sore and it was just different. I never really had it like that last year," Gallup said, via ESPN's Todd Archer.

But Gallup made it clear that he has no such issues with his knee anymore.

“It’s different. I feel springy again."

The 2022 season saw Gallup miss three games and finish with career lows in yards per catch and yards per game.

Dallas made the playoffs thanks in larger part to career years from CeeDee Lamb and Tony Pollard along with a top 10 defense.

If Gallup is healthy enough to contribute in 2023 the kind of production he had in 2019 and 2020 though, Dallas' offense will be nigh unstoppable.

Will Michael Gallup be back to his old self this year?
