Cowboys fan survey: If you were Jerry Jones…
Our poll of the week deals with a very big issue surrounding the Dallas Cowboys this week. Is Brian Schottenheimer up to the job of being the head coach of the Cowboys?
From an emotional standpoint, it might be really easy to say no, he’s not. A slow start to the season, plus back-to-back losses that felt very winnable if the team had performed better, has given fuel to the fire under Schottenheimer’s hot seat. He was given a lot of the coaches and players he wanted this offseason, and so far he has not be an advantage to his team.
You might also think there is still a chance this year if they had better coaching and putting someone else in charge would help.
There is the other side. Last year we thought Schotty did a fantastic job with the offense, and that he was saddled with a terrible defense. So that year was kind of a wash. This year, we’re only through six games so it’s a small sample size. Plus you still have a very winnable NFC East. Making the playoffs should be a goal in any season and no one ever sees a turnaround happening until it arrives.
Another issue is there is no obvious successor to Schotty on staff.
So if you were Jerry Jones right now, would you fire Schottenheimer? That’s a binary yes or no question in our poll. But if you want to explain your choice with a little more context, please hit up the comments. Also, vote in the confidence poll, too.
