The Dallas Cowboys were the winning team on Saturday night after their preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals, but there was one clear and undeniable winner specifically: Shiyazh Pete.

In case you were unaware, Pete is a rookie, undrafted offensive lineman on the Cowboys roster. Most notably he is the first Navajo to sign an NFL contract.

Pete has an Arizona background, but he ultimately went on to play college football at New Mexico State before transferring to Kentucky, and received an incredible ovation both during and after Saturday night’s game.

This is one of those times where you remember that life is bigger than sport. Seeing the impact that Pete’s spot on the Cowboys is having on his culture is humbling.

Following the game, Brian Schottenheimer even had Pete break down the team. You have to watch this.

How can you not love sports? Imagine not loving sports!
