The Dallas Cowboys are adding another hire on the defensive side of the ball under new coordinator Christian Parker. They’re bringing on Green Bay Packers passing-game coordinator Derrick Ansley. Dallas also recently hired Arizona Cardinals cornerbacks coach Ryan Smith.

Ansley started his coaching career in the NFL in 2018 when he was hired as the defensive backs coach for the old Oakland Raiders. After two seasons on the coaching staff for the Tennessee Volunteers, Ansley returned to the NFL as the defensive backs coach for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2021. He was the defensive coordinator for the Chargers in 2023, and he spent the last two seasons with the Packers.

Dallas has been very proactive in getting their defensive staff assembled. They will also interview Pittsburgh Steelers linebackers coach Denzel Martin and Philadelphia Eagles assistant linebacker coach Ronell Williams on Saturday. On Sunday, USC’s running game coordinator and defensive line coach Eric Henderson will be interviewed. He previously spent time with the Los Angeles Rams.
