BREAKING: Dallas Cowboys working to hire Eagles DBs coach Christian Parker as defensive coordinator

The Dallas Cowboys are working to hire Philadelphia Eagles defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator Christian Parker to be their new defensive coordinator. The news was reported by NFL Network on Thursday.

The Cowboys are working to hire Christian Parker as their defensive coordinator, sources tell me and @RapSheet.

Dallas has been looking for a new defensive coordinator for multiple weeks now and is among the first teams with vacancies at the coordinator level to make a decision and go for it. They believe that Christian Parker is their guy and they are acting with conviction. You have to respect that.

Parker has indeed worked under Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, one of the most respected defensive minds in the NFL at the moment. If he brings even a fraction of what the Eagles have done on that side of the ball to the Cowboys then this will all work out very well.

It is a huge deviation from the norm for the Cowboys to hire someone so young in Parker what with him being only 34 years old. We all know better than to overreact in saying things like how everything is suddenly different, but this is at the very least a venture down an uncharted path which is nice to see.
