Cowboys 2024 rookie report: Rookie class have another week making plays
How are you feeling about the Cowboys rookie class right now?
Cowboys nation was on the edge of their seat as the last game came to a frantic close against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In a shock victory, the Cowboys managed to claw out a win against the high-powered Bucs with the defense producing some key moments. What did the rookie class do to contribute to the victory? Let’s check it out.
OT Tyler Guyton
Chuma Edoga got the start at left tackle this week, just like last week. This time though, Edoga wasn’t injured half way through the game which meant Tyler Guyton was left sitting on the bench. Guyton did play seven snaps at left tackle which is not enough to give a valid evaluation.
DE Marshawn Kneeland
Marshawn Kneeland played ten snaps on defense and was part of the crew that applied an ungodly amount of pressure on Baler Mayfield. We witnessed some forced errors from Baker thanks to that pressure, and off the ten snaps Kneeland played he applied pressure three times. Kneeland made no tackles, just the three quarterback hurries.
C Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe held the center position for Dallas against Tampa Bay and faced the daunting task of keeping back the inside pressure the Buccaneers defensive line can impose on opponents. Beebe did his job to the letter and allowed only one pressure the entire game. His run-blocking was sound as well but Tampa are renowned for being an effective defensive line that can crash inside quickly.
LB Marist Liufau
Marist Liufau has been a menace on defense. He quite easily had his best game last week against Tampa Bay and this has been a steady increase with each passing week. His stat line against the Buccaneers is quite the list. Seven total tackles, two defensive stops, one pass breakup and one important forced fumble. The way the game was playing out for Liufau he seemed to be trying to rip the ball on ever play he was involved in. His speed and aggression on the field has been good to watch and the arrow keeps pointing up. Such an exciting player right now.
CB Caelen Carson
Injured reserve
WR Ryan Flournoy
Flournoy had a pretty busy day against Tampa Bay. He played 24 offensive snaps and made the three catches for 41 yards. Two of his catches went for first downs to extend drives and it was clear there’s some connection there between Cooper Rush and Flournoy.
T Nathan Thomas
Injured reserve
TE Brevyn Spann-Ford
Brevyn Spann-Ford played 13 snaps on offense as an extra blocker in the run game. His only big moment came on special teams where he quickly got downfield and made the tackle.
