Cowboys vs Eagles inactives: Tyler Guyton a surprise inactive
Micah Parsons is officially ACTIVE for the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cowboys are nearly ready for kickoff against their bitter rival, the Eagles, and the first start of the year for Cooper Rush. And now we have a clearer picture of who will be playing in this one with the official inactive list.
Dak Prescott won’t play, which isn’t a surprise to anyone after the hamstring injury he sustained last week. Reports on Saturday indicate Prescott will get surgery that would end his season, and the Cowboys have publicly said they’ll put him on injured reserve. However, they didn’t make that transaction official in time for today, which is why Prescott is on the inactive report. It also means that the Cowboys will not have an emergency third quarterback for this game, as Trey Lance is active for the first time in his Cowboys career in place of Prescott.
Joining him is DaRon Bland, Juanyeh Thomas, Deuce Vaughn, Jonathan Mingo, K.J. Henry, and rookie left tackle Tyler Guyton. The last one is a bit of a surprise, as Guyton had been limited in practice this week with a neck injury and carried a status of questionable into today. Asim Richards is expected to play left tackle in his place.
Not on the inactives list today, for the first time in a long time, is Micah Parsons. The star edge rusher hasn’t played since Week 4, and the Dallas defense has certainly felt his absence. It’s unfortunate timing that Parsons’ return comes right as Prescott’s absence begins, but the Cowboys are surely ecstatic to see him on the field again.
As for the Eagles, they come into this one fairly healthy. Philadelphia had a whopping 14 players on their injury report including Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert - though only linebacker Ben VanSumeren ultimately carried any sort of game status into today, listed as questionable.
