Cowboys 2024 rookie report: The Cowboys rookies had a bad day
What did you make of the Cowboys rookies against the Philadelphia Eagles?
The Dallas Cowboys had serious struggles on offense and defense against the Philadelphia Eagles. The rookies also had their struggles and here’s a break down of each rookie’s performance.
OT Tyler Guyton
Inactive
Guyton was inactive due to injury, but the performance of Asim Richards in his place puts into perspective the struggles Guyton has been having. There wasn’t any noticeable drop off with Richards in the game, and there were no penalties. Guyton is coming along slower than hoped.
DE Marshawn Kneeland
Injured reserve
C Cooper Beebe
Beebe played all 60 snaps on offense. People asked questions about the shotgun snap that Cooper Rush fumbled early in the game. The replay clearly shows Rush turn his head and took his eye off the ball. In doing so he mishandled the snap and the ball fell to the Eagles defense. As for Beebe, he allowed a sack, his first allowed in the last five weeks. He allowed a total of two pressures, but his run blocking was looking good and that was seen with Rico Dowdle making some impressive inside runs for good gains.
LB Marist Liufau
Liufau hopped on the fumble that Micah Parsons created early in the game. Liufau was close to taking the ball in for a touchdown. He played 16 defensive snaps and made four tackles and one tackle for loss.
CB Caelen Carson
With DaRon Bland still out, Carson played as the teams starting cornerback opposite Trevon Diggs. He played 45 snaps and made five tackles, the issue was once again trying cover on the outside. He allowed five receptions from seven targets for 103 receiving yards. Carson allowed a passer rating of 113.7 when targeted and the second consecutive game he’s allowed a rating over 110. This year he’s allowed a passer rating over 100 in every game he’s featured in. Later in the game Israel Mukuamu got snaps at corner.
WR Ryan Flournoy
Flournoy played 16 snaps on offense which were all as an extra blocker in the run and passing game.
T Nathan Thomas
Injured reserve
TE Brevyn Spann-Ford
Ford played six snaps all as a blocker on offense.
