Brandon Aubrey has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September!

You can make the argument, even as foolish as it sounds on principle: Brandon Aubrey is the Most Valuable Player on the Dallas Cowboys right now.

Through the first four games of his second season Brandon Aubrey has continued to deliver jaw-dropping results. He missed a field goal last Thursday night to prove that he was human, but other than that he has been extraordinary through the season’s first quarter.

As a result of Aubrey’s heroics he was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September.

Here is Aubrey’s production through four games this season and the month’s action he was just commended for:

  • 12 for 13 overall on field goals
  • 12 of which were attempted from beyond 40
  • 7 of which (including the miss) were from beyond 50
  • 2 successful field goals from beyond 60 so far this season

Aubrey had his second field goal from at least 60 yards out during last week’s win against the New York Giants and it happened to come from exactly 60. Two weeks ago he boomed a 65-yard field goal with Justin Tucker, the man he has surpassed as far as the kicker in the NFL, watching from the other sideline.

During last season’s win against the Philadelphia Eagles we saw Aubrey connect on a 60-yard attempt which gives him three from beyond that specific arc so far in his young career. He is only one behind Brett Maher for the all-time record in this capacity.

It seems like only a matter of time until Aubrey’s name decorates many different pages of the NFL record book. It also stands to reason that he will pick up several more honors along the way, hopefully a Super Bowl as well.
