Two in a row? Play action among 3 Keys to Cowboys starting streak vs Saints Sunday

Both the Cowboys and the Saints are coming off big wins in Week 1 of the 2024 season. The Cowboys beat Cleveland, 33-17, while New Orleans won 47-10 over the Panthers. Vegas attributes the Saints big win to the general cruddiness of the Panthers, dubbing Dallas heavy favorites. But Cowboys fans know all too well what’s supposed to happen isn’t always what actually happens, and there’s plenty of reason to believe the Saints bring with them a modest amount of upset potential.

The primary reason for concern is the Saints acquired a nugget of Cowboys Kryptonite this year. Klint Kubiak, the Saints new offensive coordinator, hails from the Shanahan coaching tree. The same tree that’s given the Cowboys fits over the years. He knows all the buttons to push to put the Dallas defense on skates.

Additionally, the Saints defense currently ranks No. 1 in EPA allowed this season. Much of that success could be attributed to the competition faced in Week 1 but watching the film it’s clear New Orleans has a fairly solid unit on their hands.

Like most weeks, it’s probably going to come down to a few key matchups. Obviously, Dak Prescott and Derek Carr play pivotal roles as quarterbacks, and players like CeeDee Lamb and Alvin Kamara play big roles as offensive cornerstones. But what other more under-the-radar matchups should be monitored?
