DeMarcus Lawrence could reportedly miss 4-8 weeks due to his foot injury.

There is nothing quite like an NFL Sunday where the Dallas Cowboys have already deposited a win into the bank. Stress-free football is a beautiful thing.

Perhaps you are experiencing some stress due to your favorite Major League Baseball team and their season (and therefore playoff lineup, specifically on the NL side) being finalized. But if you thought you were getting away from the day without any Cowboys-related stress then you must not have been living in reality.

About an hour before the Sunday slate kicked off it was reported by ESPN’s Todd Archer that DeMarcus Lawrence’s injury timeline could take somewhere between 4-8 weeks.

When news of Lawrence’s injury first came out on Friday the verbiage associated with his absence was “multiple weeks.” Clearly 4-8 weeks fits that bill, but that is quite the wide range.

It came as no surprise then on Saturday when it was reported that Dallas was exploring adding a veteran pass rusher (that Micah Parsons has a high-ankle sprain only complicates matters all the more). Needless to say the Cowboys would be up quite the proverbial creek if Lawrence wound up missing closer to eight games.

The bye week is involved over the next eight-week stretch, but we are talking about then a possibility where Lawrence misses 3-7 games.

If we assume the worst case scenario here and live in that eight-week definition, then that would take Lawrence out through the second New York Giants game, quite the coincidence given that it was against the G-Men when he was injured. The game in question here is on Thanksgiving Day to put things into a different kind of context.

This could set Lawrence up to return to the Cowboys from December on and obviously we hope that involves a deep run. For now though, the Cowboys need help.
