Sunday is a big day for Caelen Carson.

Week 1 around the NFL is a big opportunity for everyone. A fresh start and a new chance to get it right. However, it’s probably more so for the rookies more than anyone else. Such as the case for the Dallas Cowboys is they prepare to take on the Cleveland Browns with several rookies making their first appearance.

With a chance to make a name for themselves in their first NFL action, and several playing an important role, all eyes will be on the Cowboys’ rookies.

Underrated star for Week 1

Caelen Carson

It’s easy to look at Tyler Guyton as he prepares to take on Myles Garrett in his first NFL action and focus on that matchup. While that does deserve attention, many eyes will also be on Caelen Carson who is starting for an injured DaRon Bland.

Carson has impressed at every step this training camp and with an opportunity in front of him, he has an opportunity to be a real underrated star for Week 1. With little time to prepare, Carson will be thrown into the fire and facing a Cleveland Browns wide receiver group that is stacked.

With opportunities to face Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, and others, Carson will have his hands full all Sunday. However, Mike Zimmer will certainly have him in positions to be successful and show his ability that was impressive all of training camp.

Cowboys fans have every reason to be nervous about the fact that Bland is out, but there is a quiet confidence about Carson as he enters his first NFL action. It won’t be easy, but there is a real chance to prove that once again, the Cowboys know how to do this drafting thing.

Fans should expect him to take his lumps, probably early, but if Carson is with many think he is, he has a chance to really impress the fans this week. With his athleticism, competitive nature, and confidence that has been on display since he arrived in Dallas, Carson could prove to be an early return hidden gem.

He’s just one of many rookies who are going to get a chance to prove that they belong, but with such importance on the outside of the defense, especially in today’s NFL, Carson’s development quite possibly could be one of the more important stories to watch for.
