Cowboys roster news: DT Jordan Phillips on IR with wrist injury, Carlos Watkins returns
The Cowboys are placing DT Jordan Phillips on injured reserve which means he will miss at least four games.
The Dallas Cowboys have needed help at defensive tackle for a while now and as training camp wore on they made a move to try and help. You will recall that Dallas made an in-division trade with the New York Giants for Jordan Philips. Two games in, Phillips has hardly flashed, but he will have to wait a bit longer for a proper opportunity to do so.
It was reported on Wednesday morning by ESPN’s Todd Archer that Phillips is headed to injured reserve with a wrist injury.

As noted, Phillips, like the rest of the defensive tackle group, has struggled to make a sizable impact. But with him heading to injured reserve he will now officially be unavailable for the team’s next four games. Dallas hosts the Baltimore Ravens, visits the New York Giants, hits the road to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers and hosts the Detroit Lions in that time. The bye follows the stretch immediately so the earliest Phillips could return is Week 8 on the road against the San Francisco 49ers.
The mothership’s Patrik Walker noted that Dallas is bringing back Carlos Watkins as a replacement for him, poaching him from Dan Quinn’s practice squad in Washington.
