Good, Bad, Ugly: Lance delivers all of above in Cowboys' preseason finale
Saturday’s preseason finale was the final exam for many Cowboys hopefuls. How they did on the test itself really isn’t the most important thing; it’s whether it was good enough for them to earn a passing mark for the overall course. Mike McCarthy and the Dallas coaching staff will turn to the gradebooks over the next couple days and reveal who graduates to the 53-man regular-season roster on Tuesday. In the meantime, we’re left to dig in and dissect how well (or not) several prospects performed in their most recent- and most critical- test.
Quarterback Trey Lance was under the biggest microscope on the day, and the former No. 3 draft pick was, unfortunately, all over the map. When it comes to the good, the bad, and the ugly in the Cowboys’ 26-19 loss, Lance went with d) all of the above. Several other Cowboys hopefuls did their best to answer their own questions; some of them responded brilliantly, while others may be found lacking in the final analysis.
