Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is reportedly dealing with nothing more than a sprain in his right foot.

According to Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has been dealing with a right foot sprain. In the article, Watkins notes that the injury “isn’t serious” and that he has been wearing a boot for a week.

It is unknown when the injury occurred, but social media was in a frenzy on July 4th when a photo surfaced on X (formerly known as Twitter) showing what appeared to be Prescott in a walking boot during his vacation in Cabo San Lucas.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network doubled down on the report, noting that the photo is of the Cowboys quarterback and that the injury is a “very minor foot sprain.”

The photo was posted on July 3rd, but it wasn’t until Thursday that people of note started to take notice. Ross Tucker of CBS Sports had Pro Better Steve Fezzik on his podcast this week when he dropped a little nugget saying the Dallas Cowboys odds for their win total this season were changing due to speculation around Prescott. For what it is worth DraftKings Sportsbook has the under on 10.5 wins for Dallas at -180 at the moment. The over on 10.5 is at +150.

Fezzik mentions that “Dak may not be 100 percent” and that “there’s rumors he had an MRI.” The rumors certainly could be true, given the nature of the most recent report from the Dallas Morning News. This wouldn’t raise as many alarm bells if it were not for the fact that the right ankle is where Prescott suffered his season-ending injury in 2020.

Jump scares around the signal caller's ankle after recovering from the compound fracture is nothing new. Prescott reportedly left practice before the 2022 season opener after hearing a “pop” in his ankle. It turned out later not to be serious and was related to scar tissue.

Again, this is an issue that numerous reports deem not serious and shouldn’t hinder Prescott’s preparation for the season. The team will have its first training camp practice on July 25, so we may know more about this sprain when Dallas touches down in Oxnard.
