Have the Giants surpassed Cowboys, Eagles as NFC East's best DL?

There has been a lot of moving parts on the defensive lines of the NFC East teams since 2023 training camp. Dorance Armstrong, Dante Fowler Jr., and Jonathan Hankins all moved on from Dallas this offseason. The Commanders traded away their two starting edge rushers, Chase Young and Montez Sweat, before the trade deadline and replaced them with Armstrong and Fowler Jr. The Eagles lost Fletcher Cox to retirement, traded away Haason Reddick, and brought in Bryce Huff. The Giants were the lone team in the division that didn’t have any major defensive line losses this offseason, and they made an enormous move, trading with the Carolina Panthers for Brain Burns.

Ranking defensive lines is challenging because a player like Micah Parsons is so much better than others at his position, that he could sway the rankings himself even if his overall line isn’t as good. Dexter Lawrence is as dominant at one-technique as Parsons is at edge, but his impact isn’t seen as much in the statistics. Philadelphia continues to reload with trades, and free agent signings, and the Commanders have Dan Quinn and multiple free agents to rebuild their once dominant defensive line.
