Cowboys secondary matches up well with NFC East rivals

The NFL is a passing league. For as backbreaking as a good running game can be, it’s the passing game that typically dictates winners and losers. It’s why quarterbacks are the highest paid players and why receivers are today’s hottest commodity. It also explains why teams like the Cowboys have seemingly devoted all their defensive resources in defending the pass.

The Cowboys enter the 2024 season boasting one of the best secondaries in the NFL. Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland are the league’s interception leaders and Malik Hooker and Donovan Wilson make up one of the most talented safety duos. Under the tutelage of defensive back guru Mike Zimmer, the Cowboys should be well equipped to handle the NFC East’s best WR corps.

For as important as it is to match up well against San Francisco, Detroit and Green Bay, matching up against Dallas’ division rivals is Job No. 1. Postseason seeding is won and lost within the division so breaking down the Giants, Eagles, and Commanders WR rooms is task at hand today.
