How many yards will Brandin Cooks have in 2024?

The Dallas Cowboys don’t make many “aggressive” moves to acquire outside talent. However, when the team opted to trade a Day 3 draft pick last offseason to add Brandin Cooks, it was a rare move that was universally loved by those around the league.

Cooks is a well-respected veteran who has been a true professional at every stop during his NFL journey, and that held true in 2023 with Dallas. However, what didn’t hold true was his almost clockwork-like ability to accumulate 1,000 receiving yards in a season.

While he fell short of that number last season, Cooks will be called upon in a much bigger way in 2024, and the century mark should once again be looked at as the benchmark for the veteran.

Can Brandin Cooks once again top 1,000 yards?

Before joining the Cowboys, Cooks played for four other franchises in his nine years in the NFL. Impressively, he has been able to tally at least one 1,000-yard season at every stop he has been at.

He did so in two of his three years with the New Orleans Saints, did it in his only year with the New England Patriots, did it in his first season with the Rams, and did so in two out of the three seasons he spent with the Houston Texans.

Despite the obvious track record of proven success, Cooks did not top 700 yards in his first season in Dallas after a slow start with his new team. Now, heading into 2024, the Cowboys will be counting on him even more in his second season with uncertainty behind him. It will be up to Cooks and Lamb to bring the week-in and week-out consistency this offense needs.

Even though the yardage wasn’t where he nor the team would have liked it to be last season, it wasn’t all bad for Cooks. In fact, he caught the second most touchdown passes of his career with eight, falling only behind his total of nine back in 2015 with Drew Brees and the Saints.

Even while only having the 48th most targets in the NFL at 82, Cooks’ eight touchdowns ranked him seventh among WRs in the NFL.

Not only that, but it was clear that as the season went along, Cooks, Dak Prescott, and the offense as a whole became more comfortable. Cooks became a bigger part of the offense, and the group flourished as a result.

Heading into 2024, Cooks and the offense will once again look to take it up another notch, and with that in mind, the benchmark being his customary 1,000 yards feels right. So what say you, BTB? Will Cooks have over or under 1,000 yards in 2024?
