Cowboys shop local in NFL.com's latest 5-round mock draft
The Cowboys take the “shop local” mantra to heart in NFL.com draft analyst Chad Reuter’s latest mock exercise. With just four picks over the first five rounds, Dallas stays in the Lone Star State with three of those selections, plugging some gaping roster holes in the process.
While offensive line is a clear area of need for the team, they capitalize on a draft class that’s deep with big men and instead use their first-round pick to take a workhorse running back coming off a major injury to fill the slot occupied by Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard the past two seasons.
It’s a bit of a gamble to leave some of the year’s top O-linemen on the board for someone else to grab, but the Cowboys have simply left themselves with more holes than can be filled with one draft haul. They have to start somewhere.
Here’s a look at how Reuter sees them approaching the first five rounds of the 2024 draft.
