Center of Attention: Upgrading pivot may be 2024 move Cowboys can do best

The Cowboys want to get better at the center position. They determined Tyler Biadasz wasn't worth the price of admission and allowed him to sign with Washington for enormous sums of money ($9,750,000 APY). They also sat out the first portion of free agency, shying away from obvious veteran upgrades and possibly opting out of the veteran market entirely.

Upgrading the center position is an unavoidable gamble but it’s not an impossible task. There are multiple avenues for Dallas to fill the empty post with a higher ceiling and more consistent player than Biadasz.

At times the center position was an area of weakness for the Cowboys in 2023. Biadasz had a fighter's attitude but didn't always have consistent results. It's understandable the Cowboys wanted to upgrade in the middle even if it meant stepping out on a limb and gambling at the position this season.

Pro Football Focus graded Biadasz 14th overall in 2023 which ranked him right in the middle of the NFL as a starting center. He was fine but for the money the Cowboys clearly wanted better. But where is better found and how big of a gamble does each avenue entail?
